Simon & Garfunkel never overstate instead they observe, almost journalistically, enormous life and cultural questions in the process of them being asked. … Bookends’ problematic, disillusioned themes, sometimes disguised in wry humor, striking arrangements, and augmented orchestral instrumentation, portray the sounds of people in an American life that they no longer understand, or understands them. They are equal collaborators with producer/engineer Roy Halee in a multivalently layered song cycle observing the confusion of those seeking an elusive American Dream, wistfully reflecting on innocence lost forever to the cold winds of change. The disc has clearly only been played a couple of times. The disc is M- on aide one and VG++ on side two, where there are two tiny inaudible marks. The cover is M- and still has the original shrink wrap. Offered for sale is a scarce Japanese pressing of Simon & Garfunkel’s LP, Bookends, complete with the obi, lyric insert and poster.Ībout this copy: This copy of Bookends is a 1973 Japanese pressing of an album that was originally released in 1968. ![]()
